About AI-Talks.org
AI-Talks.org is an independent publication exploring artificial intelligence at the intersection of science, technology, society, history, philosophy, medicine, business, and culture.
Founded in December 2022, the site began as a personal intellectual project and gradually evolved into a broader space for essays, technical explanations, critical analysis, historical comparisons, and discussions about the consequences of increasingly capable artificial intelligence.
AI-Talks.org is not primarily a technology-news site. Its goal is to examine ideas: how AI changes the way we work, reason, create, make decisions, organize institutions, conduct science, and understand ourselves.
Many articles begin with artificial intelligence but deliberately cross disciplinary boundaries. Physics, mathematics, evolutionary biology, medicine, history, literature, philosophy, economics, and political institutions frequently provide the conceptual tools needed to understand technological change.
Our Editorial Approach
AI-Talks.org favors analysis over volume.
Articles are intended to go beyond summaries of information already available elsewhere. Whenever possible, they develop an argument, question an assumption, connect ideas from different disciplines, revisit an older problem in light of new technologies, or explain a technical concept in language accessible to non-specialists.
The site publishes both technical and essay-style work. Some articles focus on algorithms, mathematical models, autonomous agents, machine learning, or scientific applications. Others examine questions involving human intelligence, creativity, medicine, social organization, history, literature, and the long-term implications of artificial intelligence.
The aim is not to promote either technological optimism or technological pessimism. AI-Talks.org seeks to remain intellectually curious, critical, and open to conclusions that may be uncomfortable for either side of a debate.
Maurício Veloso Brant Pinheiro

Founder and Editor, AI-Talks.org
Founder and Editor
Maurício Veloso Brant Pinheiro is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from UFMG in 1992 and his PhD in Physics from UFMG in 1998, with research involving electron paramagnetic resonance. He also worked as a researcher at the University of Paderborn in Germany and at CDTN/CNEN in Belo Horizonte.
His scientific interests include condensed matter physics, nanomaterials, mineralogy, gem materials, and electron paramagnetic resonance. Beyond physics, his interests include artificial intelligence, natural history, the history of science, philosophy, and the relationship between technological change and society.
He founded AI-Talks.org in December 2022 as a personal project for exploring ideas outside the conventional boundaries of academic specialization. What began as a holiday experiment gradually became a sustained exercise in research, writing, argumentation, and interdisciplinary thinking.

Artificial Intelligence and Editorial Transparency
Artificial intelligence is used at AI-Talks.org as a research, editorial, language, and analytical tool.
AI systems may assist with literature exploration, organization of ideas, language revision, translation, formatting, mathematical verification, alternative formulations, or critical review. They are not treated as autonomous authors.
The conception of an article, its argument, interpretation, selection of ideas, editorial direction, and final publication decisions remain the responsibility of the human author.
Whenever the use of artificial intelligence is particularly relevant to the creation or methodology of an article, additional disclosure may be provided within that article.
This principle can be summarized simply:
AI can assist the writing process. It does not replace intellectual responsibility.
Media and Conversations
AI-Talks.org also participates in conversations about artificial intelligence beyond the written articles.
Maurício Veloso Brant Pinheiro has discussed artificial intelligence, science, technology, and the origins of AI-Talks.org in episodes of the Eureka! Podcast, produced by the Department of Physics at UFMG. The site itself lists two episodes: Ep. 28 — Maurício Pinheiro and Ep. 29 — Inteligência Artificial e centros de cor em gemas com Maurício Pinheiro.
