Sunny: The Robot Is Fine. Humans Need an Update.
Sunny begins like a comedy about an American lost in Japan and a domestic robot with the face of someone who has just discovered taxes, grief, and existential dread at the same time. Then it throws in hikikomori, Yakuza, cultural collision, technology, and Japanese TV shows that can somehow turn psychological trauma into prime-time entertainment. The result is stylish, bizarre, sharp, and gloriously Japanese.
