The next computer virus may not need code. It may only need a convincing idea. As AI agents gain persistent memory, tools, autonomy, and the ability to communicate with one another, natural language itself becomes a cybersecurity attack surface. An agent does not need to “believe” a malicious idea—it only needs to adopt it, preserve it, act on it, and persuade another machine to do the same. The real threat is not artificial consciousness. It is unauthorized intent becoming executable behavior.

O próximo vírus de computador talvez não precise de código. Talvez precise apenas de uma ideia convincente. À medida que agentes de IA ganham memória persistente, ferramentas, autonomia e a capacidade de se comunicar entre si, a própria linguagem natural passa a se tornar uma superfície de ataque de cibersegurança. Um agente não precisa “acreditar” em uma ideia maliciosa — basta adotá-la, preservá-la, agir com base nela e persuadir outra máquina a fazer o mesmo. A verdadeira ameaça não é a consciência artificial. É uma intenção não autorizada transformando-se em comportamento executável.

But if an algorithm is continuously shaping the information environment around you, amplifying some voices while burying others, reinforcing some emotions while neglecting others, then a disturbing question emerges: how much of what you believe is truly yours—and how much has been optimized for you?

E, cada vez mais, podem fazer muito mais do que apenas selecionar informações: podem gerar argumentos, imagens, narrativas e estímulos emocionais moldados especificamente para você. Talvez você acredite estar navegando livremente pelo mundo político, escolhendo o que ler, em quem confiar e no que acreditar. Mas, se um algoritmo está continuamente moldando o ambiente informacional ao seu redor, amplificando algumas vozes enquanto enterra outras, reforçando certas emoções enquanto ignora outras, surge uma pergunta inquietante: quanto daquilo em que você acredita é realmente seu — e quanto foi otimizado para você?

Mas, sob essa aparência de ordem, a eletricidade falha, a água se torna escassa, a moeda perde valor, os serviços públicos se deterioram, profissionais qualificados deixam o país e milhões aprendem a sobreviver fora das instituições oficiais.

Este artigo examina a forma mais silenciosa e perigosa de colapso: quando um governo conserva o poder, mas perde a capacidade de garantir a vida normal.

Energia, petróleo, sanções, repressão, rigidez ideológica, migração e dependência externa não são crises separadas.

São partes do mesmo mecanismo.

A questão não é qual país cairá primeiro.

É quando a população percebe que o Estado ainda existe — mas já não funciona.

A state does not need to fall in order to have already failed.

Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran remain standing: governments, flags, ministries, police, speeches, and ceremonies continue to function. But beneath this appearance of order, electricity fails, water becomes scarce, currency loses value, public services deteriorate, skilled professionals leave the country, and millions learn to survive outside official institutions.

This article examines the quietest and most dangerous form of collapse: when a government retains power but loses the capacity to guarantee normal life.

Energy, oil, sanctions, repression, ideological rigidity, migration, and external dependency are not separate crises.

They are parts of the same mechanism.

The question is not which country will fall first.

It is when the population realizes that the state still exists — but no longer works.

The Doctor AI Cannot Replace

Artificial intelligence has already entered hospitals — and the question is no longer whether it will replace doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, but what kind of medicine we will build with it. If algorithms can analyze medical tests, organize patient records, suggest diagnoses, and automate repetitive tasks, will we use those gains to reduce staff and see even more patients in less time, or to give healthcare professionals back what modern medicine has taken from them: time to listen, explain, think, and care? Inspired by Kai-Fu Lee’s ideas in (AI Superpowers: China, Silicon Valley, and the New World Order, 2018), this article explores an increasingly urgent paradox for professionals, students, and patients alike: the more capable machines become of performing technical work — and even simulating empathy — the more important it becomes to decide which aspects of medicine we do not want to delegate to them.

Ou aproveitaremos a tecnologia para devolver aos profissionais aquilo que a medicina moderna lhes vem retirando: tempo para ouvir, explicar, refletir e cuidar? Inspirado nas ideias de Kai-Fu Lee em (AI Superpowers: China, Silicon Valley, and the New World Order, 2018), este artigo discute um paradoxo cada vez mais urgente para profissionais da saúde, estudantes e pacientes: quanto mais capazes se tornam as máquinas de realizar tarefas técnicas — e até de simular empatia —, mais importante se torna decidir quais aspectos da medicina não queremos entregar a elas.
