In the last few decades, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a prominent topic in pop culture. From movies and music to literature, AI is often portrayed in various forms, depicting it as a futuristic and powerful force that could alter the course of human history. In this post, I will share some of my personal picks for the most intriguing and thought-provoking examples of AI in pop culture. However, it’s worth noting that there are many other examples outside of my selection, each with their own unique impact on our understanding of AI and its role in our lives. Join us as we delve deeper into the intersection of AI and pop culture.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the novel is the depiction of artificial intelligence. In the world of “Dune,” AI is outlawed, and human beings have taken on the role of “mentats,” individuals trained to perform mental tasks with incredible speed and accuracy. The decision to outlaw AI is explained as a response to a “Butlerian Jihad,” a war against thinking machines that resulted in the eradication of all forms of artificial intelligence. The portrayal of AI in “Dune” raises questions about the nature of consciousness and the ethics of creating intelligent machines. It also serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of relying too heavily on technology.

Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card (1985) is a science fiction novel that tells the story of Ender Wiggin, a young boy who is trained to become a military commander in a future war against an alien race. The novel explores the concept of using artificial intelligence to simulate military training and strategy.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline (2011) is a science fiction novel that takes place in a future where most people spend their time in a virtual reality world called the OASIS.
